    Barbara Billingsley was born on December 22, 1915 in Los Angeles, California. She was the daughter of an oil executive and his wife, and was raised in the affluent community of Beverly Hills. Billingsley attended Beverly Hills High School and graduated in 1933. She then went on to attend the University of Southern California, where she studied music and drama.

    After college, Billingsley began her career as a dancer and singer in nightclubs in Los Angeles and New York City. She eventually caught the eye of talent scouts, and began appearing in films and television shows in the 1940s.

    Billingsley’s first major role was in the 1947 film The Unfinished Dance, in which she played a young dancer. She went on to appear in dozens of films and television shows over the next few decades, including Thelma & Louise, The Red Skelton Show, The Jack Benny Show, and The Twilight Zone.
