    Early Life of G. Gordon Liddy

    G. Gordon Liddy was born on November 30, 1930, in Brooklyn, New York. His parents, Sylvester James Liddy and Maria (McGinley) Liddy, were both immigrants from Ireland. He attended Fordham University, where he studied law and served in the U.S. Army Reserve. He then attended the University of Miami, where he earned a master’s degree in business.

    Liddy began his career in the FBI, where he worked from 1957 to 1962. He then joined the U.S. Department of Justice, working in the Office of Legal Counsel from 1965 to 1968. After leaving the Department of Justice, Liddy became involved in the 1972 Watergate scandal, which ultimately resulted in the resignation of President Richard Nixon.

    After the Watergate scandal, Liddy was convicted of burglary and conspiracy and served four years in prison. Following his release, he embarked on a new career as a radio host. He hosted the show “The G. Gordon Liddy Show” from 1992 to 2012, and was a fixture on the radio talk show circuit.

    Liddy also wrote several books about his life and career, including an autobiography, “Will”, which was published in 1980. He also wrote several novels, including “Out of Control” and “The Monkey Handlers.” In addition, he appeared in several films and television shows, including “Law & Order” and “The A-Team.”

    Liddy was married three times and had five children. He was married to Frances Purcell from 1957 until their divorce in 1971. He then married Jo Ann Shoeffler in 1972, and they remained married until his death in 2021. His third marriage was to Frances Purcell from 1975 until their divorce in 1981.

    Liddy was also an avid gun collector, owning over 150 firearms. He was also an accomplished marksman, having competed in several competitions.
