Gerard Way is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and comic book writer. He is best known as the lead vocalist and co-founder of the band My Chemical Romance. Early Life
Gerard Way was born in Summit, New Jersey on April 9, 1977. He was the son of Donna Lee and Donald Way. He attended Belleville High School and then the School of Visual Arts in New York City. He was a fan of comic books from an early age and was inspired to pursue a career in music after attending a concert by The Smashing Pumpkins.
Gerard formed My Chemical Romance in 2001 with Matt Pelissier, Ray Toro, Mikey Way, and Frank Iero.
