    Mos Def, also known as Yasiin Bey, is an American rapper, actor, and activist. He is best known for his work in the hip-hop duo Black Star and his solo albums. He has also appeared in films such as The Italian Job and Be Kind Rewind. Mos Def has received two Grammy nominations and is considered one of the most influential hip-hop artists of all time.

    Mos Def: Biography

    Mos Def was born on December 11, 1973 in Brooklyn, New York. He is the son of Sheron Smith and Abdul Rahman. He has an older brother, DCQ, and an older sister, Ces. Mos Def attended the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts and later attended NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. He began rapping at an early age and released his debut album Black on Both Sides in 1999.

    Mos Def’s career began in 1994 with the release of his single “Universal Magnetic”. He went on to release several albums as a solo artist, including Black on Both Sides, The Ecstatic, and The New Danger. He also collaborated with Talib Kweli as part of the hip-hop duo Black Star. Mos Def’s acting career began in 1998 with his role in the film Bamboozled. He has since appeared in films such as The Italian Job, Be Kind Rewind, and 16 Blocks. He also has several television roles, including a recurring role on the hit series Dexter.
